Providing data to ABC

At ABC we offer multiple options when submitting your data depending on the type audit you are receiving and needs of your business:

Method General usage Notes

ABC Secure FTP

Mailing lists, log files and other large or sensitive files

This method provides greatest level of security. It involves uploading data direct to a restricted are of our servers, using a two-part public/private key. You generate both parts of the key and submit the public part to ABC. We use this part to authenticate you on our system, whilst you keep the private part of the key. After authentication we generate a username for you.

ABC FTP

Mailing lists, log files and other large files

We provide you with a link to upload your data direct to a restricted area of our server, using a username and password created and monitored by ABC.

Client Secure FTP, FTP or cloud storage

Mailing lists, log files and other large or sensitive files

You provide us with a link, password/key and instructions to collect data from your server.

Please note that public cloud storage (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive) might not be considered secure enough for some types of data.

Email – designated inboxes

Mailing lists, Event attendance lists

These special inboxes are managed by the team responsible for processing data in preparation for your audit. Full details are listed at the bottom of this document.

For added security we recommend you password protect your files, and send that to us separately.

If you have any questions, or would like SFTP to be set up for you, please contact the Electronic Audit Team via the team’s email address: mailinglists@abc.org.uk.

Please remember that all files should be sent with an easily identifiable name and in the correct format for audit. Further information on correct formats for your data can be found in the General Principles and Record Keeping section of the Reporting Standards

If you have any questions about data protection in relation to your ABC audit, please email us on: dataprotection@abc.org.uk
